In the opening round of the 2011 season, a host of powerful GT cars will go head-to-head in two hour-long endurance races featuring mandatory pit stops and driver swaps. Among the impressive machinery confirmed for this year’s title assault is a quartet of the stunning new Ferrari 458 Italia GT’s and the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 driven by brothers David & Godfrey Jones. These new for 2011 cars join a number of Audi R8s, Ford GTs, Aston Martin DB9s and Ferrari 430s from last year.
British F3 will also kick start its 2011 campaign in Cheshire with a hat trick of races from an international field of talented young drivers. The last three champions – Jaime Alguersuari, Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne – have gone on to successfully race or test F1 machinery, and the new crop of young hopefuls will be eyeing a similar launch pad next season. Keep your eye out for talented young British drivers; Jack Harvey and Rupert Svendsen-Cook for the crack Carlin team.
The action packed day also includes races for the young, up and coming racers who are just starting the motorsport ladder with a triple header for the future stars of F1 in the Dunlop MSA British Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain. Scott Malvern will start as the favourite, round the demanding Oulton Park International circuit. Absolute Racing will be inviting some of the stars for a meet and great session in the box at lunch time.
