Steve got a steady start from second on the grid with had a look round the outside of pole man Chris Kite into Paddock bend on lap 1. The two pulled away as Miguel battled for the final podium place with new Class A runner Chris Timms driving a Mygale FF2000. </p>
Steve finally got past Chris Kite as they powered out of Clearways on lap 11 and then covered his line as they entered paddock bend. He then pulled out a gap of close to two seconds as they closed in on the back markers. On lap 21 of 23, Chris Kite tried to take Steve around the outside of Paddock, a move that was very brave and ultimately failed as he flew at high speed into the gravel and out of the race. This left Steve clear to drive the last 2 laps to his 3rd victory of the season. Miguel continued to battle with Chris Timms for the duration of the 20-minute race and finish an excellent 3rd place and his first podium for Absolute Racing.
Race 2 saw Steve have another poor start, dropping him down to 3rd place from pole position after being beaten to paddock by both Chris Timms and Chris Kite. The two Chris’ battled hard for the opening laps as Steve kept a watch full eye on what was going on ahead. Miguel made another excellent start to closely shadow Steve in 4th place. On lap 4 Chris Timms made a hopeful move to pass Chris Kite for the race lead that put them both in a spin. Both Miguel and Steve managed to avoid contact with the spinning pair and continue in convoy for the rest of the race as Absolute Racing scored it’s first ever 1,2 finish. The day was further improved when Steve Savage gained the extra point for fastest lap. Miguel finished only 3 seconds behind Steve at the finish.
With Malcolm Scott not finishing the first race and Chris Kite not finishing both races Steve moved into a 32 point championship lead. Next race – Mallory Park |
